Do you remember the last time you spent time reading a book?

If you've spent even a moment with me, you'll know that I'm quite a book lover myself.

Whenever I talk about my love of reading, I often get the response, "I don't have time to read" or "I'm not interested in reading". I'm not an expert on this, and there will be friends out there who read more than I do, but I do have some tips that have worked well for me and can help you develop a love of reading.

1. Read What You Like

Don't force yourself to read something you don't like or aren't interested in. If you like to read non-fiction, go for it! For me, I love reading fiction and it keeps me motivated to finish the book.

The most important thing is to choose a book that will hold your attention from the first page to the last.

If you're not sure where to start, look at reviews or recommendations online or browse through a bookstore. Once you've found a few options, give it a try and see which one you like best.

2. Make Time For Reading

Make time for the things that are important to you and keep that in mind. Reading is important to me, so I make time for it. Why? Because reading is one of the best forms of self-care.

Set aside 30 minutes a day to read a book. It doesn't matter if it's during your lunch break or before bed, as long as you set aside some time to read.

Try to incorporate reading into your busy lifestyle.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

―Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

3. Try Different Authors

Constantly updating your reading list can get you excited by different writing styles and make you look forward to returning to your book. I also try books by many authors and enjoy exploring their stories.

4. Read At Your Own Pace

This is not a competition. Reading should be enjoyable - so take your time, read at your own pace, and get to know the story. Enjoy the characters and the author's writing. If you get tired while reading a book, put it aside and move on to something else. Don't rush it.

5. Find Your Reading Spot

It is very important to find a perfect place to read. A relaxed environment makes your reading comfortable. It creates an encouraging atmosphere for people to have a good reading time. Mine is an armchair on my porch that has natural light to relieve my eyes. It makes it easy for me to focus on the book and makes reading easier.

So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a book and start exploring new worlds! Now it's your turn! Do you have any other suggestions on how to cultivate an interest in reading? Please share them with me in the comments below.

Embrace the journey and enjoy the ride. Happy reading!
